We are finally taking this whole farming thing online! After five years of planting, watering, harvesting, hatching, plucking, sweating, failing, cursing, trying again, succeeding, toasting and doing it all over again, we are ready to start supplying our community with food.

I documented my day now that I'm no longer working a 9-5. Granted this was an atypical day, but it was the only day I thought to document. But I see people do this all the time so I thought I'd try my hand at it. Hopefully, I don't bore my reader to tears. (Hi Mom!)

I guess now it's official. I am a full-time homesteader. My last day at my 9-5 office job was last Thursday, and I can't say that it has really sunken in yet that I'm not going back. I have a real problem with patience. Today I fried up some good old-fashioned green tomatoes. Not entirely because I was hungry (which I was), but because I'm having a really hard time keeping my hands off the tomato plants.

Guineas, that is. Oh we tried, but it just wasn't meant to be. 12 eggs and only six pipped the shell. Of that six, one didn't quite make it out and we'd read all of the literature that said we shouldn't help the chick out.
