I have a real problem with patience.

Today I fried up some good old-fashioned green tomatoes. Not entirely because I was hungry (which I was), but because I’m having a really hard time keeping my hands off the tomato plants.

Plump, beautiful green tomatoes that are only just now beginning to show a hint of yellow and no sign of red yet. Big clusters of meaty beefsteaks, tiny, tantalizing grape tomatoes, little organ-shaped oxhearts. Why does it take so friggin’ LONG? sigh

We have also been battling a rabbit that has decided to take up residence closer to the house than need be. I find myself to be Mr. MacGregor in this Peter Rabbit scenario and it kinda makes me rethink that whole set of books and TV show. Whose side should kids really be on? Is it me or are we just encouraging kids to steal? Anyway, I’ve got a few yellow tomatoes in there so maybe in a couple of days I’ll be relaxing with a beautiful caprese salad. One can only dream.

What’s your hard-to-wait vegetable?
